Built for the Pool: KimDem’s Two Swimming Anthems
NEW RELEASE / SWIMMING ANTHEMS

Built for the Pool: Two New KimDem Tracks for Freestyle and Butterfly Swimmers.

Two competitive swimming anthems drop at once. One for the freestyle event list from the 50 to the 1500. One for butterfly’s three brutal distances. Both made for swimmers who actually race.

There’s a kind of quiet that happens behind the blocks. Not nervous quiet. Working quiet. Headphones in. Eyes locked on the lane. The whole season compressed into the next ninety seconds.

That’s the moment KimDem made these tracks for.

Two new releases, out now on Bandcamp. One freestyle. One butterfly. Both built for swimmers who actually race.

01 / ContextWhy KimDem is releasing competitive swimming music.

KimDem sits at the intersection of sport, discipline, training, and the kind of failure that teaches you something. The work is for athletes who train seriously. Chess players. Runners. Lifters. Fighters. Swimmers.

Swimming asked for its own music. The sport doesn’t sound like the gym. It doesn’t move like running. It has its own rhythm. Long sets. Fast walls. Breath windows. Split times. And most “workout music” doesn’t speak that language.

So KimDem wrote two tracks that do.

Race music has to sound like the race. Not the warmup. Not the bus ride home. The race itself. KimDem brand note

02 / Track OneBuilt for Free. The freestyle anthem.

Built for Free is written for the full freestyle event list. Not just the sprint. Not just the distance. The whole spread: 50, 100, 200, 800, 1500.

Each event asks for something different from the swimmer. The 50 is pure aggression. Head down. No breath. Fastest length of the pool you’ve ever swum. The 100 is start, hold, finish. The 200 is pace and race IQ. The 800 and 1500 are stroke economy and a long quiet war with the clock.

The track moves through that range. It carries sprint power for the short events, pacing rhythm for the middle distances, and a steady undercurrent for the longer races. It respects how different a 50 free feels from a 1500 free, because it has to.

What Built for Free is built for

  • Sprint events. 50 free, 100 free.
  • Middle distance. 200 free, with all the pacing discipline that asks for.
  • Distance freestyle. 800 free, 1500 free.
  • The mechanical work. Turns, breakouts, stroke control, the final wall.

03 / Track TwoBuilt for the Fly. The butterfly anthem.

Butterfly is the stroke that punishes you for getting it wrong. The rhythm has to be exact. The kick has to time with the pull. The breath has to be in the right window or the whole stroke breaks down.

Built for the Fly is written for that. Not a generic pump-up track. A butterfly track.

It moves with the things butterfly swimmers know. The rhythm of the stroke. The power generated from the core. The timing window between breath and pull. The shoulder fatigue that builds across a 100. The lungs at the back end of a 200. The discipline to hold technique when the body wants to break form.

What Built for the Fly is built for

  • 50 fly. Power off the blocks. Two breaths or fewer. All-out aggression.
  • 100 fly. Clean rhythm in the first 50, surviving the second 50.
  • 200 fly. The longest fight in pool swimming. Pace, pain, and refusing to fall apart.
  • The hard parts. Final fifty. Shoulder burn. Lung lockup. Holding form.

05 / For Coaches and AthletesHow to actually use these tracks.

Both songs are made to be put to work. Not background music. Not playlist filler. Tools.

A few suggestions for swimmers, coaches, and content creators:

  • Swim training videos. Sprint sets, distance work, dryland, kick sets. The pacing of each track has been built to sit under footage without fighting it.
  • Warmup playlists. Pre-meet, on the pool deck, in the marshalling area. Use Built for Free for freestyle events, Built for the Fly for butterfly events, or both as the warmup builds.
  • Instagram reels and TikTok edits. Race recap content, technique breakdowns, before-and-after edits, season highlight reels.
  • Team hype content. Championship-season videos, taper week edits, banquet reels, recruiting tape.
  • Race-day final track. The one song before walking to the blocks. Athletes have specific opinions about which song that is. These are made to be in the running.
  • Coach edits. Senior tributes, end-of-season highlight packages, recruiting reels.

Both tracks can be used in social content under the standard Bandcamp use terms. Tag @kimdem if you post. The brand reposts swim content from athletes and teams using the music.

Two tracks. One pool.
Built for real swimmers.

Both songs are live on Bandcamp. Listen. Add to a warmup. Send to a swimmer who needs the right thirty seconds before they walk to the blocks.
